Aziza Mohammad Ibraheem Al-Essa

 Assistant Professor

Profile

She graduated from  King Abdulaziz University with a BA in English language and literature in 1988. Following her graduation, she was appointed as a teaching assistant at the Department of the European Languages and Literature in 1989. She obtained her MA in Linguistics from King Abdulaziz University in 1998.  She subsequently had  her PHD at the University of Essex,UK. Her doctoral thesis is on dialect contact and  patterns of sociolinguistic variation in the city of Jeddah.  Her research  interests are in the area of language variation and change in dialect contact zones especially within the Arabian Peninsula. She is also interested in other areas of the sociolinguistic research including multilingualism, and language maintenance .

Research Interests

My research interests are in the area of language variation and change in dialect contact zones especially within the Arabian Peninsula. I am also interested in other areas of the sociolinguistic research including multilingualism, and language maintenance and shift.
